Parental Fitness Assessments in Georgia
If you have been asked to complete a parental fitness assessment, contact me to get started. Provide your referral information so we can discuss whether my service fits the request before you schedule.
Begin with the original referral
Have the written request available, including any instructions from an agency, attorney, or other referring professional. It is helpful to know who requested the assessment, why it was requested, and whether a deadline applies.
If your paperwork names specific provider qualifications, forms, or assessment requirements, share those details before booking.
Clarify the scope before making an appointment
Requests involving parenting and family circumstances can differ. If your paperwork asks for a custody evaluation, parenting assessment, parental fitness assessment, or another named service, use that exact wording when you contact me.
Ask how to provide records
Let me know whether the referring party has identified documents or other collateral information. I will reach out to gather any collateral information from the referral. Ask how to provide those materials before sending sensitive records.
If the request involves children or other family members, explain who the referral concerns so we can discuss the appointment arrangements before scheduling.
Availability, fees, and report timing
Appointments are typically available within one week, subject to current availability. Fees vary by assessment and are confirmed before scheduling. Clinical assessments are private-pay and are not billed to insurance.
Mention any report deadline when you first reach out. Appointment availability does not establish when a report will be completed. Expedited reports can be completed upon request.
Common questions
Is this the same as a custody evaluation?
A parental fitness assessment is sometimes used in a custody case, depending on the referring party. I accept referrals that are court-ordered. I am also available for testimony as an expert witness, for an additional fee.
Should I send all of my documents with my first inquiry?
Begin with a brief explanation of the request. Ask which records are needed and how to provide them before sending documents.
Can the assessment guarantee a particular decision?
No. An assessment does not guarantee a particular decision or acceptance by another person or organization.
