Domestic Violence Assessments in Georgia

I offer domestic violence assessments for people who have experienced abuse and for people referred because of concerns about their own behavior in a relationship. These requests can have different purposes and requirements.

When you contact me, share what assessment has been requested and who is requesting it. This helps us clarify the appropriate service before scheduling.

Clarify the purpose of the request

You may be seeking an assessment related to experiences of abuse, or you may have received a referral concerning alleged abusive behavior. The term “domestic violence assessment” alone may not explain what the referring person or organization requires.

If you have written instructions, keep the original wording available. Include any requirements about provider qualifications, forms, reports, or deadlines.

If you have experienced abuse

You can begin with a brief inquiry about the assessment you need. You do not need to provide a detailed account of your experiences in the first message.

If there are restrictions on how you can receive a response, mention your preferred contact method and whether a voicemail may be left.

If you were referred because of concerns about your behavior

Share the exact service named in your referral. An assessment, ongoing counseling, and an intervention program may involve different requirements.

Before booking, confirm whether the requesting organization requires a particular provider or program. Do not assume that an assessment appointment fulfills a requirement for classes or intervention services.

Availability, fees, and report requirements

Appointments are typically available within one week, subject to current availability. Assessment fees vary and are confirmed before scheduling. Assessments are private-pay and are not billed to insurance.

If a report is needed, discuss the intended recipient and deadline when you first reach out. A report’s acceptance depends on the requesting organization’s requirements.

Common questions

Do you assess both survivors and people referred for alleged abusive behavior?

Yes. Explain the purpose of the request when you contact me so we can discuss the appropriate assessment and any referral requirements.

Does an assessment include classes or an intervention program?

An assessment appointment does not automatically include classes, ongoing counseling, or enrollment in an intervention program. Share your instructions before booking.

Can you guarantee that the report will satisfy my referral?

No particular acceptance or outcome is guaranteed. Confirm the requesting organization’s requirements and discuss them with me before scheduling.
